Bridgetown, Barbados, October 21, 2014 (CDEMA) - The first of two consultations organized by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Coordinating Unit to review emergency operations of the December 2013 rains will be hosted by St Vincent and the Grenadines on October 23, 2014 at the National Emergency Management Office. Severe rains and high winds due to a Low Level Trough System impacted three of the CDEMA Participating States, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia and Dominica from Monday 23rd to Wed 25th December, 2013 resulting in loss of life and significant damage to housing and infrastructure.

Bridgetown, Barbados, September 24, 2014 (CDEMA) – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) continues to strengthen its Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems for disaster risk reduction projects and programmes in the region. Recognizing the important role of technology in supporting robust M&E systems, the agency has developed a computerized information tool for capturing and analyzing performance data of the regional Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) Strategy 2014-2024.
Bridgetown, Barbados, Monday, September 16, 2014 (CDEMA) - On September 16th, 2014, the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD), the Canadian Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) met at the Barbados Red Cross Society to review the key results, achievements and lessons of a 3-year community-based disaster risk reduction project (2011-2014) entitled ‘Caribbean Community Resilience to Disaster Risk’.
