SITUATION OVERVIEW:

Relief and recovery efforts are progressing in Jamaica following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, which caused widespread damage across several communities. The Government of Jamaica, through the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), has activated national response mechanisms to provide immediate assistance to affected communities. Emergency shelter operations, debris clearance, and the distribution of food, water, and medical supplies are ongoing.
