Bridgetown, Barbados, March 11th, 2019 (CDEMA) - Given the critical role of the media in providing information and communicating on emergencies, media personnel from the Government Information Service (GIS), private radio, television and print media as well as government communications officers met on Saturday March 9, 2019 at the Secretariat of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) in Bisee, St. Lucia to attend the Media Training Workshop entitled ‘Understanding Disaster Risk Management’.

Bridgetown, Barbados, February 6th, 2019 (CDEMA) – Three (3) Caribbean countries; Cuba, Dominican Republic and Saint Lucia, signed commitment statements signaling their willingness to dedicate time and resources to implement and sustain effective multi-hazard early warning systems. The signing took place during the “Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems (MHEWS): Achievements and Strategic Path Forward” high-level meeting, which was convened on Friday February 1, 2019 at the Bougainvillea Conference Centre, Bay Gardens Hotel, Saint Lucia.

St. Michael, Barbados December 19th, 2018 (CDEMA) – Climate change, development and security issues require commitment to improving sustainable policy actions. Resilient development is not just about survival and bouncing back, but about being able to thrive. This was the focus of the panel discussion on ‘The Big Question: What are the Actions Required for a Resilient and Secure Caribbean?’ with regional policy makers, practitioners and the youth during the regional consultation on ‘Climate and Security in the Caribbean: A Roadmap to Resilience’, which was held at the Renaissance Convention Centre in Aruba on December 13, 2018.
